We Salute Our Women Around Town for 2011

Runway Spotlight

From authors to cabaret singers, from educators to TV newswomen, from fashion designers to auctioneers, the women we profiled in 2011 are an amazing group. From the year’s first Woman Around Town, Mia Galison, founder of eeBoo, a company that creates educational toys for children, to the year’s last Woman Around Town, Lydia Fenet, a senior vice president and benefit auctioneer at Christie’s, we were privileged to meet and write about accomplished women in New York and Washington D.C. We thank them all for sharing their stories with us and with our readers.

At the end of this year, we present them all in a slide show. Click on the first one to get started. If you missed someone’s story, go to the top of our opening page and type in her name, on either our New York or DC site.

These women defy stereotypes. They are all ages and nationalities, come from different backgrounds and work in many different professions. Some are famous, even household names. Others you may be meeting for the first time. But they all inspire us to set the bar higher, give a little more, and dare to dream.

We look forward to meeting and writing about other outstanding women in 2012. Know someone we should write about? Please let us know. You can email us at WATExplorer@gmail.com.
