I am surprised to see Carol Tweedy featured in such a positive light here. Although I'm sure she has done many honorable and positive things for the community in the past-- this article fails to mention that over 2000 families have signed up for Asphalt Green Battery Park City, the organization she is the Executive Director of, since Sept 2011 (after this article was written) with the promise that the facility would open in late Fall 2011. It is now Sept 2012 and the facility is not open yet and it is impossible to get answers from anyone in her organization as to what is going on and when it will actually open. I personally signed up for the facility with my husband and paid in the year full in Sept 2011 and have been left without any answers for the delayed opening and have been treated horribly by the organization when I try to obtain an explanation for this. Wouldn't any normal family want an explanation for why they paid over $2000 for a years membership and have not received what was promised in the contract? This fiasco has negatively affected our community and quite frankly I wish they never entered our neighborhood.
