DAILYCANDY Beauty Bus

The Beauty Bus rolled into town on September 22nd in Soho spreading style for a total of three days in different locations around Manhattan. The mobile salon was sponsored by Hair Room Service and Daily Candy along with multiple beauty products like Pantene and Olay. Celebrity stylists and fashion editors were on hand to offer hair and makeup touch-ups along with beauty tips to people on the street.

A few Bravo stars were also on hand. Patty Stanger of Millionaire Matchmaker was there, as was the cast of Mad Fashion and Fashion Hunters. Wilson Payamps of Fashion Hunters told me, “We love anything that has to do with beauty and fashion so that’s why we’re here.” By we he meant him and one of his co-stars Ambria Miscia who said that Daily Candy “has a really nice plethora of all types of services and giveaways.”

Tara Muscarella from Fashion Hunters was wearing a fun skort by Pendelton that she found secondhand in Williamsburg.  She was happy to be supporting the event. “Everyone loves fashion in their own unique way,” which also applies to the scenarios she and her co-stars deal with on their style-charged program.

“It’s (Hair Room Service) such a cool idea, such a practical approach to beauty. They come to your house so you don’t have to waste time. It’s on the go. Michael, the owner is just amazing and I think it’s just so good to support small businesses,” SuChin Pak, the new face for Daily Candy exclaimed. The on-air correspondent was sporting a lovely top from Luca Luca’s fall collection and a Palesa skirt topped off with a pair of “lucky” vintage Chanel shoes. “I need get on the bus soon to re-blow dry my hair” she joked, in reference to the unexpected heat that day.

Pak wasn’t the only one, as many New Yorkers were happy to get free touch ups on a day that favored runny makeup and unruly hair. The Beauty Bus concentrated on practicality by helping ladies minimize the frizz factor that goes hand in hand with humidity. “Texture is better than none on a humid day like this,” hair and makeup stylist Matthew Green informed me. “We plan on seeing about 900 people today so we gotta keep it quick. We’re giving a lot of tips on what to do and letting people try products out.”

The Beauty Bus was also giving out $25 gift certificates for Hair Room Service so people could experience the service. “We bring the salon to people’s home,” said David Lopez, one of the three editorial stylists from the company.

Hair Room Service founder Michael Dueñas was excited to bring his services to the general public, saying he plans to return the Beauty Bus twice a year. “My company is a very mobile beauty minded salon. We are getting out in the public to have New Yorkers see what we do and sample what we offer without having to pay a dime.” And New Yorkers enjoyed getting to sample services that celebrities and regular folk alike have already been privy to. “There are days where we do Lady Gaga then after go to a non-famous person’s house and do their hair.”
