Once again, the weekend is filled with outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy. There are street fairs galore, a kite-flying event, and, of course, the summer movies are beginning to dominate theaters. Special effects, anyone? So what are you waiting for? Get out there!
Kite Flying Over the Hudson, Saturday, May 9
Hope that New York will be the windy city on Saturday so that hundreds of kites can take flight. The event begins at 11 p.m. at Pier I at 73rd Street, Riverside Park, Hudson River. Register and check-in for the activities.
FlyNY volunteers will help children make kites and learn basics of kite design. In the afternoon, competitors from around the world will show off their incredible designs. The winds are usually strong coming off the river, making for perfect kite flying conditions. There will be family kite flying and a kite flying extravaganza. From 11a.m. to 4 p.m., take part in open kite flying.
