In the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series, a range of talented and famous musicians performs every Friday morning from May 22 to August 21. Today, Third Eye Blind performs.
Central Park opens to the public at 6 a.m. and audience members will be permitted to enter the park starting then. Concerts are free and open to the public. Entrance is on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive at 6 a.m.
“Good Morning America” airs live from 7 to 9 a.m., with concert performances usually starting around 8:30 a.m.

Inwood Shakespeare Festival: Dracula

For its 10th season of free theater and music in Northern Manhattan, the Inwood Shakespeare Festival presents Dracula by Lee Kaplan and Ted Minos (based on the story by Bram Stoker). Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks – Central Park

This free outdoor concert by the NY Philharmonic will be followed by a fireworks display. The orchestra, conducted by Alan Gilbert, will perform selections from Copland’s Old American Songs, selected arias from Mozart, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. Joan of Arc presented by Gorilla Rep

Gorilla Rep will begin another summer of the finest quality of free theatre in the park with the world premiere of Joan of Arc by Robert Steven Ackerman.
The play, starring French actress Aleksandra Yermak, was commissioned by Gorilla Rep’s Founding Artistic Director, Christopher Carter Sanderson, who also directs. The production, which marks the 17th season for the highly respected theatre company, will perform on the Pine Lawn in Fort Tryon Park.

NYRP Garden Movies: The 11th Hour

Q-Tip is an American hip hop artist, singer, and occasional actor from Queens, perhaps best known as the leader of legendary hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. After Tribe disbanded in 1998, Q-Tip pursued a solo career. His first singles “Vivrant Thing” and “Breathe & Stop” exemplified his move towards more pop-oriented recordings, closely followed by his solo debut LP Amplified. As of late, Q-Tip has been very active, touring with the full line-up of A Tribe Called Quest as well as continuing to work on his own solo career.
Chester French is an American pop band anchored by founding members Maxwell Drummey and D.A. Wallach. The two met as college students at Harvard University and quickly realized their strong musical chemistry after playing various campus functions and impromptu jam sessions. Influenced by genres ranging from Motown and swing to power-pop, country and rap, Chester French is constantly reinventing their style and sound.
Sweden-based Little Dragon consists of Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano and friends Erik Bodin (drums), Källgren Wallin (bass), and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards), all of whom met in high school. In 2007 the band signed with large British indie label Peacefrog Records and released their self-titled debut album. Since the release the band has been busy playing live shows throughout Europe, gaining new fans, and garnering positive attention on music blogs on both sides of the Atlantic.

Did you ever notice the painter’s easels lined up along the Lake in Central Parkand marvel at the artists’ talents? The master artists featured on the new public television series Passport & Palette, Kevin Macpherson, Joe Anna Arnett, Kenn Backhaus and James Asher, will be painting in areas between the Bethesda Fountain and the Lake. Artists and art enthusiasts alike are invited to join them by painting and sketching along with the master artists and/or simply observing them at work. The painters will be located between the Bethesda Fountain and the Lake.
River to River Festival: The Big Draw 2009

Midsummer Night Swing: New Swing Sextet

This performance is part of the Midsummer Night Swing, now in its 21st season, which heats up Damrosch Park with the rhythms that keep New York dancing. Cost: $15.
Kicking & Screening Soccer Film Festival July 2009

The Financial Times proudly presents the Kicking & Screening International Soccer Film Festival (KS09), a pioneering festival of soccer-themed films screened in New York City, delivering the finest soccer films from around the world. KS09 brings together cinephiles and soccer lovers to develop greater appreciation for the game and the frame. The festival program runs from Tuesday, July 14, through Saturday, July 18, and includes appearances by some of the films’ principal figures, such as former New York Cosmos stars Shep Messing and Giorgio Chenaglia (Once in a Lifetime).
