New York Press Club Honors Woman Around Town’s Writers

The Water Club was the perfect place for recognizing the winners of the New York Press Club’s 2010 Journalism Awards. Alix Cohen and Carol Toscano were honored for their articles that appeared in Woman Around Town. Alix won in the Entertainment Category for her review The Lily’s Revenge—A Flowergory Manifold, a presentation of the HERE Arts Center, while Carol won the Rev. Mychal Judge Heart of New York Award for her Woman Around Town profile of Hilary Boyajian, a designer who creates beautiful, fashion forward clothing for breast cancer survivors. Hilary attended the ceremonies as a guest of the website.

Those attending enjoyed cocktails while taking in views of the East River from the Water Club’s Terrace. The banquet was held in the club’s downstairs dining room. The awards themselves were beautiful crystal plaques engraved with the recipient’s name, affiliation, and winning story. Other recipients included writers from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Daily News, and Newsweek.

The evening was classic New York—some of the best writers in the city gathering at a favorite restaurant with breathtaking views, enjoying each other’s company. Woman Around Town was honored to be a part of the celebration.
