In these uncertain economic times, the savvy Woman Around Town must keep all of her financial options open. In past articles we’ve looked at investments in ETFs, Gold, and Hedge Funds. What about the real estate market? Is real estate a good investment right now?
The answer may become clearer at the upcoming seminar “New York Residential Market Update: Good as Gold?” The event, which will take place on Wednesday, September 21, is specifically designed for women who are interested in learning about the New York Real Estate Market.
A dynamic panel of female experts will tackle the tough topics on the minds of current and prospective property owners and investors, such as: the current environment of economic uncertainty; the future of New York real estate’s status as a favored hedge against market downturns and inflation; the impact of foreign investors in the market; the emerging trend to diversify with New York real estate as a “safe-haven” asset, as opposed to other commodities such as gold; the key factors that could impact short and long term pricing; New York’s ability to remain resilient in the face of overarching national trends.
“We’ll focus on providing insights to first time home buyers, step-up buyers and second home purchasers,” said Jeff Appel, Sales Manager of MetLife Home Loans, one of the co-sponsors of the event. “These groups have seen unprecedented regulatory intervention and extremely tight credit and lending standards, and we will share the best strategies to move forward.”
“We want to provide the tools and insights that will help guide consumers through this unique and challenging market,” added Linda Stillwell, Senior Vice President of the Corcoran Group, also a co-sponsor. “We see this as a golden opportunity for them to get the latest information that will outline insider tips to successful real estate transactions, and give people direct access to network and have one-on-one conversations with the experts in the industry.”
The distinguished panel of experts will include:
Linda Stillwell, Senior Vice President, Corcoran Group
Michele Peters, Esq., Real Estate Attorney
Kelly Evans, Real Estate Reporter, Wall Street Journal
Amanda Fung, Real Estate Reporter, Crain’s New York Business
Moderator: Jeffrey Appel, Sales Manager, MetLife Home Loans
The seminar will take place at the MetLife Sky Auditorium, 1095 Avenue of the Americas on Wednesday, September 21, from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The panel discussion begins at 7:30. Woman Around Town will be there, too.
This event is free to the public and refreshments will be served. For reservations, please call: Alyssa Schwartz at 212-413-4675 or email her at: aschwartz@metlife.com
