The racing season in Saratoga is winding down. Yet the season that almost didn’t happen got off on schedule and provided wonderful times for locals and tourists alike. Although the main action happens on the race track, there’s plenty going on behind the scenes. Women wear fancy hats (we loved the one paying homage to Elvis), families unload picnic baskets, and musicians (Bobby Dick and the Sundowners, above) entertain the crowd. Kiosks sell the racing form for those eager to test their luck. And food stands tempt with everything from barbecue (New York’s own Blue Smoke) to cotton candy. No matter how we score it, Saratoga comes up a winner. We can’t wait for next August.
