We live in this wonderful world where technology advances so quickly that it is hard to keep up with even the small things (like the newest iPod!). Changes are made everyday, products are tweaked and the world becomes a bit easier to live in…a bit faster of an environment. With all of this speed surrounding us, it’s no wonder that we are trying to tap into the technological market in the hopes that it will make our bodies perfect, too. Not just perfect but perfect more quickly. We want to take the fast-track in re-designing our bodies because we watch as everything else gets re-designed at lightning speed.
It just doesn’t seem fair to not have technology effect our bodies the same in which it effects an upgrade to our iPods. Those iPods get slimmer and smaller by the season, why can’t the same thing happen to our appearance, too? Well, it’s not that product makers haven’t tried. Oh, they’ve tried. And tried. And tried. However, there are very few success stories.
Recent attempts include the Reebok clothing line and Skechers Shape-Ups. These products come with claims that your body will transform without you having to do anything other than your daily activities. If it sounds too good to be true…
Unfortunately, many people in search of a hot body in no time flat will spend a lot of money on products such as these. If you the proud owner of a Reebok sports bra or a pair of Skechers, don’t be too proud because you’ve really wasted away your money. It’s my belief that the Shape-Ups cause more foot and leg problems just by using them, which means that when you do finally discard them (and trust me, you will), you’ll be dealing with a string of aches and pains that may make it hard for you to actually workout.
Even surgical procedures, promising quick weight loss, may take awhile for full recovery (and something can always go wrong, at anytime). Best to avoid the knife and chalk it up to another one of those fast-fixes. Leave the fast-fixes to the geniuses at Apple. When it comes to your body, it’s better to trust the one system that really works – you. By using the methods which have worked for years and years, such as a healthy diet and consistent workout plan, you have control over how your body will look. It may not happen in a nanosecond but the changes will last a lifetime once you allow your body the time to make the changes.

I must agree since I tried a similar pair, the MBT and could have purchased two pairs that I would have worn more often for the same price. At first I thought they were really cute but they weren’t cute enough to wear with everything and they soon found their way to the back of the closet and later the donation bin. I’ll stick to good running shoes and cross trainers from now on.
