We Give Thanks for…

thanks

That there’s always next year to win a World Series.

For George Clooney.

For two weeks without any headlines about Kim Kardashian.

For my husband who cooks the best turkey in the world.

Medium, iced, mocha latte with skim milk, no whipped cream, from Dunkin’ Donuts.

Thanks for the unconditional love of our pets.

Thanks for wonderful fall days.

Thanks for friends with whom to share Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful for giving back to local charities in need. Seeing their appreciation is rewarding.

I’m grateful for friends who love me despite my faults, for sweet potato pie, and fortunately, not being a Penn State graduate.

For a good laugh in the middle of a bad day.

For warm spells in the middle of December.

For nurses, doctors, technicians, and caregivers who fight everyday to help our loved ones stave off cancer and other deadly diseases.

For friends who become lovers, and even better friends.

For parents who love us no matter how many wrong turns we take — and listen patiently when we cry about yet another mistake we’ve made.

For the Ryan Gosling “Hey Girl” and “Ryan Gosling vs. Puppy” Internet memes. (Look them up!)

I’m thankful for the opportunity to write for Woman Around Town.

For all the great artisan food vendors and farmers who work so hard to bring us great things to eat!

I am thankful Alexander Skarsgård cut his hair on True Blood.

For the USA Network that brings us shows like Burn Notice and Covert Affairs.

I am thankful for my sister’s Ritalin prescription. (Don’t recommend this one!)

I am thankful for cute waiters.

From the cute waiter: that my boyfriend still loves me!

I’m grateful for my 16 year old niece; she helps me remember to see the bliss in life.

For iCloud because now I can upload music to three devices all at once.

For Dave Grohl, because where would we be without the Foo Fighters?

For my running shoes so I can eat with impunity all day!

For living in a city of anonymity.

For having a job.

For light beer.

For Tina Fey.

For health insurance. And related mental health coverages.

For not living on Wall Street this year. Or any year, for that matter.

For my good health and the ever-improving health of those that I love.

I am thankful to be employed in this economy.

I am thankful that my recent physical and TB test all cleared me with a clean bill of health.

For wonderful cabaret in New York.

I am thankful to have TWO fabulous felines to cuddle with at night.

I am thankful to live in such a vibrant city as DC with free museums and other attractions.

I am thankful that The Avengers movie is being directed by Joss Whedon and not Brett Ratner or god only help us, Michael Bay.

I am thankful that Michele Bachman, Rick Perry, and Newt Gingrich are not President…yet.

I am thankful that Mississippi’s personhood amendment was defeated.

For good health, good friends and good chocolate.

For Mark Harmon because he is the foxiest silver fox ever.

I am grateful for my family, my fiance, and all the love that surrounds me every day,

For my health.

For the new Muppets movie.

For growing older AND wiser.

And, of course, for chocolate.
