It’s hard to describe Fuerza Bruta. It’s not exactly a play. It’s not exactly a performance. It’s definitely a multi-sensory experience. If you read the reviews, the words hypnotic, erotic and fantasy come up again and again. Frankly, it’s bigger than words and as subconscious as it is visual. Lidia, an audience member, said, “The women in the water felt like my trapped dreams. The running man felt like life – when you run and run and run and you hit walls and you get shot down and people are passing you by – you get up and keep on running. He had determination.”
I guess it depends upon your state of mind.
There may be entrapment in Fuerza Bruta but there’s also freedom: a techno heartbeat, water and flow, pain, laughter, solitude, togetherness, solitude in togetherness, chaos, birth, death – the natural events in the scope of a life out in the open, or in this case, over our heads. The only difference is, in Fuerza Bruta, life is consolidated into 70 minutes of hyper-connectivity that is mostly above us. So, LOOK UP!
