If you have ever seen a Frank Gehry building, you were, no doubt, awed by the many twists and curved, glistening surfaces that make up his architectural designs. From the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, Gehry’s buildings have become major attractions in and of themselves. Almost like functional works of art.
Gehry’s genius extends beyond architecture. He has created sculptures, furniture, and, since 2006, an exclusive line of jewelry for Tiffany & Co. This season, Gehry has created a collection for Tiffany that blends nature’s artistry with his innovative deconstructionist aesthetic. Gehry’s Leaves is his latest collection for Tiffany and it arrives just in time to celebrate the fall season (and to wear to all those Monday night charity balls).
Capturing the colors of fall, Gehry uses 18k white, yellow, rose and black gold. The designs in this collection start with a simple leaf design crafted into a necklace or earrings and evolve into what, in typical Gehry fashion, looks like a pile of newly raked leaves, dappled with diamonds. The effect is both exhilarating and beautiful. A wearable work of art.
Black gold is transformed into a ring with white gold and diamond leaves. Of course, you must get these matching earrings. Why not?
The single leaf design comes as a pendant or as earrings in white, yellow or rose gold and is stunning in its simplicity. As in nature, each luxuriant leaf is unique, shaped by the hand of a master. Of course, if you prefer just a delicate outline of the leaf in round brilliant diamonds, there is always this simple pendant in 18k white gold.
Our absolute favorite is the Leaves Brooch, reminiscent of a cluster of just fallen leaves, in 18k yellow, white and rose gold with 6.80 total carats of round brilliant diamonds. Well, a woman can dream, can’t she?
