Coup de Coeur

By Stephanie Remige

When I have somewhere to go that requires a special dress, of course I need to consider all my options. I usually consider trekking up and down town looking for a little unique boutique where I can find something affordable and fitting. But, I work best under pressure, so I wait until the very last minute and rely on my one UES treasury: Coup de Coeur, on 3rd Avenue between 91st and 92nd Streets.

Upper East Side’s Coup de Coeur is small, with two racks on each wall, accessories in the back, and two fitting-rooms (sized just big enough so you can bend your knee).  But, once you set your eyes and lay your fingers on a French inspired garment, all aesthetic concerns about your surroundings are left on the doorstep, as you fall in love impulsively… a la mode.

This store’s offerings are youthful, fresh, and, most importantly, affordable. Short and flirty cocktail dresses are priced anywhere from $120 to $150, while longer and more glamorous evening selections hover around $200. Shop the sales for even better deals.

The associates are friendly and provide reassuring styling advice. See stylish associate, Stella, and fashion-forward, Eduardo, on any day of the week.  They make a great team, homing in on the best look for each customer. Stella can also be found at Coup de Coeur’s new English-translated sister store, Heartbeat, on 69th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Take my advice, you’ll find yourself stunning… in a heartbeat.
