Lambertson Truex Finds a Luxury Home at Tiffany’s

Luxury handbag devotees were despondent in March when the low profile purveyor of high-end, well-made handbags, Lambertson Truex, filed for bankruptcy protection. When Tiffany & Co. rode in on its white horse and bought the company in April, these same devotees wondered if their beloved Lambertson Truex would stay true to the inspired designs that made them the rock stars of the logo-free luxury leather goods industry.

Well, it turns out there was nothing to fear. Designers Richard Lambertson and John Truex have come back better than ever and have created a handbag and leather goods collection that fits perfectly with the world’s most iconic luxury brand. Using their trademark crocodile skins, and supple leathers and suedes, Lambertson and Truex have created a collection that, arguably, raises Tiffany’s profile even higher in the luxury goods market.

Our favorite bag is the TRT, the Tiffany Reversible Tote. It is especially cool that the tote comes in several colors, including Tiffany Blue, which reverses to silver. That’s the beauty of this collection – while there are no logos, the Tiffany Blue pervades the collection in subtle, and not so subtle, ways. Whether in a smooth leather lining, a tip of a clasp or the whole shebang, the Tiffany robin’s egg blue makes an appearance on each handbag.

The “signature” bag in the collection is the Manhattan Satchel. An elegantly shaped bag in glazed crocodile, this generously sized bag holds everything in style.

The Bracelet Bag is a must have. With a chunky beaded wrist chain in the style of Tiffany jewelry, this framed pouch is a beautiful accessory for an evening out.

Clutches, of which there are many, come in a rainbow of colors. In a choice of leathers, satin or crocodile, with clasps of crystal of gold, this collection of  clutches adds a colorful punch and touch of luxe wherever you take them.

With its new Luxury Leather Goods collection, there is yet another reason to look forward to a gift in a Tiffany’s robin’s egg blue box. Of course, you can do what we are planning to do, buy one for yourself. You deserve it.
