The weather is definitely changing and so is the season, the holiday season, that is. Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and Christmas shopping madness is not far behind. And just in time, Woman Around Town has planned a shopping event at Calypso St. Barth on Madison Avenue. Why not alleviate some of the holiday stress by getting a head start on your shopping? Not sure what to get your boyfriend’s sister? Your mother? Your daughter? Don’t worry; there is sure to be something that every woman in your life will love at Calypso, one of our favorite stores. And if you shop on November 12, you will be treated to champagne, a discount, a raffle, a gift bag for shoppers, and fashion advice.
Calypso aims to provide a no-fuss approach to style anywhere in the world by combining timeless pieces with diverse elements. Globally inspired details add a worldly touch, focusing on the concept of travel for shared experiences. Providing a subtle rumpled elegance coupled with a dash of tomboy shows the brands roots are deeply planted in the beach and island lifestyle. For fall and holiday, the focus is on providing a wide variety of beautiful textures coupled with notes of sparkle and shine. The combination makes for a luxurious collection, however, keeping every look interesting and easy.
In Calypso right now is a collection of cashmere sweaters in both chunky and fine gauge knits. We especially love the cropped sleeve, popcorn knit cardigan by Erica Tanov. We can’t imagine anyone not loving it. Calypso pairs it with their Poufy Party Skirt, but it would work just as well with a pair of the many styles of Adriano Goldschmied jeans in stock.
Dresses and feminine touches abound this season. Our favorite is the Circle Dress a gray silk dress with little round silk petals on the skirt that sway ever so demurely (photo above). Black sequins in the form of leggings, cocktail shorts and a mini skirt add sparkle to a beautiful sweater or cashmere tee.
Accessories are the finishing touches on a great outfit and Calypso has obviously coordinated their accessories so they are perfect with everything in the store. The absolutely hottest accessory in the store right now is the Fur Funnel, a knitted tube of fur to wear around your neck. It comes in an amazing array of colors from basic black to a refined chinchilla to a hot fuchsia or bright orange. They are wearable with the dressiest of dresses (as shown in the photo above) to a simple tee and jeans. These fun funnels are by Glamourpuss and are literally flying out of the store. And don’t miss the oversized fur mittens. The size of boxing gloves, these furry mitts will be coveted by every trendsitter in the world.
Calypso’s Home Store collection is as luxurious as its clothing line. Silks, cashmeres, metallics and feathers make up a variety of spreads, throws and pillows. Home accessories like metallic glass vases, crystal lamps and lacquered trays in bright colors add sophistication to any room. Really, is there a better way to enjoy your sassy, feminine wardrobe than by luxuriating in a room of cashmere, feathers and fur?
