Trendy, Independent Fashion at Reasonable Prices

Inventory

By Laura Lanz-Frolio

Part of what makes today’s independent fashion brands so intriguing is that they’re nowhere to be found, at reasonable prices that is. That’s where Inven.tory comes in. With two locations, the original in Nolita and a newly opened spot on Lafayette Street, these warehouse-like shops are full of some of the most sought after labels around at prices that still allow for eating and paying rent.

Simple metal garment racks are filled with VPL lingerie, Walter’s watercolor separates and Only Hearts weekend wear. They also have an amazing shoe collection featuring 80%20’s cork wedges, Marais USA’s candy colored flats and Devotte’s artfully constructed sandals. The extensive men’s section in the back currently features a capsule collection by hipster label Commune.

Inven.tory doesn’t call itself an outlet for nothing; everything in the store is deeply marked down. Though a few items exceed $100, most hover around $75 and some even lower, so these brands that once eluded us everyday shoppers are now easily accessible.

This seems like a great place to shop. I’m planning to visit soon. Thanks for writing this article. I wouldn’t have known of Inventory had you not written about it in Woman Around Town.
