Knitting New Connections: 4 Ways To Boost Your Creativity

If you are looking to engage with creativity, it’s not necessarily about sitting down and forcing yourself to create your version of Mozart’s Requiem; boosting your creativity is something that comes with a plethora of health benefits. If you feel that you are losing your creative spark, and you want to get it back, have you tried any of these approaches?

Engage With Crafts

Whether it’s creating envelopes or just getting pen to paper and letting your mind run wild, engaging with crafts is a wonderful way to unleash your subconscious. The big problem that we all have when it comes to creating stuff is that we think about it too much. Craft is one of those things that can make you realize that nothing has to be perfect. When we see children drawing things, we may not recognize what it is, but they know exactly what it is and this is what makes them feel good. And, the more children draw and create, the better they will feel. Let’s take a leaf out of their book.

Change Your Surroundings

Everyone has been stuck at home, and if you need to get away from everything you know, changing your environment is the perfect way to do it. All you need to do is go out on a lengthy walk, or try and work in a cafe, and what you start to surround yourself within different environments, it forces you to think with a new perspective. If you are stuck, and being at home doesn’t inspire you anymore, the best thing you can do is redecorate. All you need to do is change the light or add new colors to your wall, and it will have a massive difference in the quality of your mood.

Change the Intent

Because we get so bogged down in trying to do one type of thing, we have to remember the importance of changing the intent. We can struggle because we can’t come up with new ideas, but the fact is that we could turn existing ideas into new ones, using Osborn’s checklist. This is a simple way for you to start combining approaches and ideas to make a whole new idea. You may think this is cheating, but when you start to consider the fact that there are only seven stories in the world, and that each movie, novel, play, or piece of art is a combination of these different stories, you have millions of possibilities.

Remember the Importance of Daily Practice

Yes, practice really does make perfect and we have to remember this if we are struggling to come up with something. We can be our own worst enemy when it comes to trying to create something because we think it has to be perfect. But in order to do something creative, we have got to practice it so we can unleash our inner creativity.

If you really want to boost your creativity, there are so many different resources around, but you have to recognize the importance of knitting new connections.
