Preparing For a Great Year in 2022

As we enter December once again, it is hard for many of us to believe that 2021 is almost over. Since the pandemic struck in early 2020, it feels like many of us have lived in limbo – but it is now time for us to make a fresh start and get back to our lives in 2022.

Today we want to talk about the new year, and some of the different ways you can start to prepare your home and your family for a better and healthier year. A fresh start holds potential for growth, new projects, and healthier habits, and we have some great ways you can prepare for a better year in 2022.

Buy locally

One of the biggest issues we are facing in our world right now is becoming more sustainable. With the recent COP26 summit and a shift in businesses, we all need to think about how our actions will impact the world around us. That’s why making a change to your own habits can be great for you in 2022. Buying locally from butchers, bakers, and candlestick makers (sorry, had to) – you can have a positive impact on your local community as well as the environment. Using less energy to ship items around the world is always a good thing and you can benefit from choosing to shop in your own local area instead.

Waste less food

Food waste is something that’s bad for the world but also bad for your wallet. It is all too easy for us to have one week where we think we will eat salads and be healthy, only to order takeaways and allow food to go off. However, in 2022 you should try and make a conscious effort to avoid this vicious cycle. Instead of buying random foods and leaving them to rot, plan your meals out and fry to freeze things such as meat to use later on. There are so many ways to make the most of your food, and if you buy less and waste less, you’ll be wealthier and healthier too.

Grow your own food

One great idea for you in 2022 is to start growing your own food. To make a positive impact in your life, eating fresh fruit and vegetables is always a great idea and you can fill your garden with these things, harvesting them throughout the year for seasonal meals. Not only will this force you to become more experimental in the kitchen, but it will be a great way for you to make the most of your own garden space and get some fresh air too.

Insulate your home

Looking to better your home in 2022? Insulate it! Insulation is a great way to keep the heat in during the winter months as well as ensure that you reduce your heating bill. If you don’t have sufficient insulation in your home already this can impact your energy bills massively, and there’s no need for this to happen. To save yourself some money in 2022, get some insulation in your walls and consider insulating the roof too to help keep that hot air in when it’s cold outside.

Consider your energy sources

Energy is such an important commodity and let’s face it, we need to change how we use it. If you want to make a positive change to your own life in 2022, consider looking at solar providers and try using this alternative energy source in your home. Not only will it be cheaper for you to run your home, but you can also be paid by the government for running your own solar panels. It’s a win-win situation, so give it a try!

Meal prep

Meal prepping is always one of the best things we can do to stay healthy and fit. If you often struggle with motivating yourself to be healthier, meal prepping could be your saving grace. Instead of worrying every day about what you will take to work for lunch or even what you’ll have for dinner – meal prep some easy healthy dishes and they will be ready for you to simply heat up when you want them. By making some easy batch recipes such as Curry or chilli and leaving them in the fridge, you’ll have access to simple and nutritious meals every day without the time or stress of cooking.

Plan your workouts

One of the best things you can do for yourself in 2022 is start working out. Getting into the groove of exercise can be a huge challenge, and when you have no solid plan it is easy to fall back into bad habits and simply do nothing. To prevent yourself falling down the rabbit hole, make sure to plan your workouts week on week and consider how you will utilise half an hour to move your body. Whether you follow a video on YouTube or head for a swim at your local leisure centre, it is better to plan things out and have a solid idea of your routine. Use pen and paper to write down your workouts and this will help keep you on schedule.

Start your day early

Sleep is important, but starting your day earlier is one of the greatest habits you can fall into in 2022. Waking up earlier helps you adjust to the world before you start your day, and you will have more time to devote to your work, exercise, and things that are important to you. Starting your day early will help you make the most of your time and you will also feel more energised, and if you use some of this time for your workout you’ll be healthier too!

Get some fresh air

Fresh air is so important for your health and happiness. If you are looking for a way to improve your own mental and physical well-being in 2022 it is so important for you to get out into nature now and again. Take time to get away from the hustle and bustle and instead enjoy some peace and relaxation at a local park or go further afield for a hike.

Invest in a daily planner

Becoming more organised is always a good thing, and one way to help improve your life in 2022 is to organise your daily life. Buy yourself a diary or a planner and start to write down your jobs for the day, any activities, and events too. This will make your life so much easier and will also ensure you fit time into your schedule for things you enjoy such as your hobbies or going out with your friends and family. You could also make the process more fun with planner sticker packs! Being a little more organised with your life this way will pack your time full of things and it will help improve the quality of your life.

Make time for yourself

It is crucial in life to take time out for yourself now and again. There are so many stresses in the world that can be overwhelming, and if you never give yourself some downtime it will all build up to a point where it feels unmanageable and difficult. Make sure that now and again, perhaps once a week or once a month, you take the time for yourself to simply be. You can stay calm, at peace, and you will be able to renew your mind for the next day.

If you are looking for some different ways to improve and change up your life in 2022, try some of the things on our list and enjoy your new year.
