10 Wines for Easter – Toast the Holiday 

Planning an Easter feast?  Here are some great wine selections from around the globe that will be welcome at every table.  They have pleasing qualities that complement the best foods. Now that your guest list is complete, you can shop for these in advance to ensure there’s a good pour for everyone.  Vary the choices to suit individual tastes. It’s nice to have wine ready to start the festivities and pair with appetizers before everyone sits down for the main meal.  Whether you’re planning a sumptuous brunch, traditional Easter Ham, pasta meal or all vegetarian, you can find a favorite in out listing.  We especially like that these delicious wines are accessible and price friendly. Serenity Rosé of Pinot Noir – This wine is from from Brassfield Estate and its High Valley Appellation.  It is estate grown and well recognized as a bright, aromatic, finely balanced wine. Made from 100% Pinot Noir the Serenity Rosé is a bright and fruity rosé, with an intense freshness conveyed by the volcanic soils and the marine breezes. This wine was aged six months, lightly fined and filtered before bottling for maximum freshness and clarity. On the nose it exudes aromas of cherries and fresh garden strawberries. It impresses from the first taste with juicy watermelon that gives way to a bright and balanced tangerine finish.

Gianni Doglia Moscato d’Asti – This wine is a delightful, lightly sparkling wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, perfect for celebrating Easter. Known for its sweet, aromatic aromas of white flowers and fruits, sage and mint, it offers a refreshing and festive touch to any holiday gathering. Its gentle bubbles and low alcohol content make it an ideal choice for brunch or dessert. Olianas Vermentino di Sardegna 2023 – The Olianas estate rises at a brief drive from Barumini and the stunning “Su Nuraxi” archeological site in the Sarcidano region, in the southern part of Sardinia. The Olianas estates stretches on 35 hectares of vineyards planted exclusively with native Sardinian grape varieties such as Cannonau, Vermentino, Tintillu, Nasco, Bovale and Carignano. This Vermentino is from The Murvonis vineyard rises on deep, fertile soils with a clay loam texture that allows for the wine’s freshness and elegance. Part of the grapes comes from the Porruddu vineyard, which has a dark brown loam texture soil with sandy marl conglomerates. These grapes bring complexity and structure to the wine.  This lively Vermentino exudes intense notes of pink grapefruit and lemon, with hints of spice. The mouthfeel is refreshing and well rounded, with a very pleasant finish. 

Gaia Malbec 2022 – GAIA, the Greek goddess of the earth, has been the Bousquet family’s inspiration since founding their winery in 1997 when they pioneered and cleared virgin land in the high reaches of Tupungato’s Gualtallary district. From the start, Gaia wines have been crafted with a French winemaking sensibility and made from organic fruit. Starting with the 2022 vintage, Gaia wines are certified Biodynamic by Demeter.   This wonderful Malbec has a deep violet color.  It exudes aromas of ripe red fruits with violet notes.  On the palate, it is fruity and intense with a pleasing finish. 

Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 – The wine is crafted with organic grapes and the Bosquet family’s signature French winemaking sensibility.   This beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon has a rich violet color in the glass. On the nose, there are lovely aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry.  It is a full body wine with medium to high tannins and a tasty finish. 

Chateau Cristi Malbec Saperavi 2021 – This pleasing wine that comes from the country of Moldova is made with 70% Malbec and 30% Saperavi.  It is a dry red wine that can be easily paired with a wide variety of foods. Chateau Christi was established in 1882 and has been making wines in the country nearly 150 years.  This wine is a refined blend with enticing aromas of blackberries and violets and a sophisticated velvety texture.  On the palate, it has notes of sweet cherries complemented by rich spices.  

Castello del Trebbio Chianti Superiore 2022 – The Chianti is a vibrant red wine from the renowned Castello del Trebbio estate in Tuscany. Made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, this wine represents the estate’s dedication to producing high-quality wines that showcase the region’s unique terroir. The 2022 vintage offers a fresh and aromatic profile with bright red fruit notes, such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by subtle floral and herbal hints. On the palate, it is well-balanced with smooth tannins and a lively acidity, providing a refreshing and elegant finish. Doña Paula Estate Malbec 2022 – This Argentinian wine shows the exceptional character and reflects the Doña Paula winery’s dedication and skills applied to vineyard management. Intense violet in color, the wine opens with aromas of black fruit, violets and spices on the nose, with some mineral and graphite notes.
