Camelback Resort – Unlimited Fun for Guests of All Ages

If you’re looking for a getaway that is close to home, but makes you feel like you’ve had a total vacation, visit Camelback Resort.< It is located in Tannersville, Pennsylvania in the heart of the scenic Pocono Mountains. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a longer stay at the Camelback Lodge, it is ideal for any size group. And it’s only about 90 minutes by car from New York City or Philadelphia. We visit several times a year with our adult children and always have fun. It’s a nice place for Woman Around Town readers to know about.

Camelback has long maintained its reputation as a top Pennsylvania ski area. Now, with their grand Lodge that features lovely guest rooms, excellent service, restaurants and activities, the amenities on the mountain are better than ever.

Galactic Snowtubing

Skiers and snowboarders will be impressed with the range of slopes from beginner to expert. Private and group lessons are available for children (ages 4 and up) and adults so anyone can engage in the winter sport. The trails are carefully groomed for the best possible experience. And for those looking for some real winter fun, Camelback is the home to the largest snow tubing park in the U.S.A. We like to tube in the evening when “Galactic Snowtubing” starts and colorful lights illuminate the downhill runs. It’s really exciting to speed down the moderate slopes on tubes while a flashing rainbow of colors light up the course.

Ski Camelback

Restaurants and eateries abound at Camelback Resort. Dining options are not only available to guests of Camelback Lodge but for anyone visiting the area. When we were there recently, we opted for a casual meal at Graffiti Pizza where delicious pizza, strombolis, and sandwiches made a great family meal. Other tempting eateries include Hemisphere’s buffet restaurant; Neptunes for sushi and more; Trail’s End Pub and Grille; and, the new Italian family spot, Berrelli’s. If you’re looking for great views, Kartrite’s Summit House is located atop the mountain with sweeping views of the Poconos and a well-curated menu of signature dishes and drinks.

Aquatopia

After enjoying some outdoor activities, guests of Camelback Lodge can put on their bathing suits and visit Aquatopia, the indoor waterpark that is open all year round with the ideal temperature of 84 degrees. If you’ve never been to an indoor waterpark, it’s a real thrill. There are thirteen daring tube slides but you can also just relax in a lounge by the wave pool. There are also kiddie play areas, a food concession, and their adult-only bar, Flyboys. You can even rent a cabana for your group.

The Lodge has a huge state-of-the-art arcade, daily activities like donut decorating, a fitness center, indoor Adventure Course, Rockwall and Lasar Tag. Our gang loves video games and we also engaged in one of our retro favorites, Skeeball.

Year round, yes! In the temperate weather visit Camelback Mountain Adventures with Dual Zip Lines, the Mountain Coaster, Mountain Segways and the Tree Tops Adventure Course. In the summer, the outdoor waterpark, Camelbeach gives you fun in the sun with pools, tube slides and lots of enjoyment.

Camelback Resort boasts “Countless Adventures, One Resort.” They definitely have it right. Skip the long distance trip! Like us, you’ll find Camelback Resort to be your new favorite place.
