Poet’s Corner: And the World Closes Its Eyes

Children
Being stacked like produce
Unwaxed
Bruised
Twice the price
Children
Shielding another one’s want
To rule the world
Children
Begging for mercy
To any God who will listen
Children
Made to take the bullet
Of another man’s hate.
Children
Starving for attention
Starving for education
Starving for love
Starving to be heard
Starving…
And the world closes its eyes.
