Poet’s Corner – Main Street

Time stands still
As we enter main street
Strolling on easy strides
Past brightly colored awnings and flags of old houses
That beckon like welcoming gifts

A farmers’ market
Turns the pages
Displaying vibrant wares
Of deeply saturated flowers
Sparkling in the light
And delicious flavored honey
From diligent bees

Streets are paved with few passersby
An overcast day
A moment’s gaze into shop windows
Shaped by the past
Star shaped flowers and paper trees
Old fashioned hats and candied dresses
Miniature ships and street signs
Shiny things and worn things
Gather together as if drawn to stay
