WAT-CAST: Laura Kumin Talks About The Hamilton Cookbook
Enthusiasm for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit musical, Hamilton, continues to grow. The musical is still drawing record crowds on Broadway and productions are now touring in many cities, including one that will play in Washington, D.C., from June 12 through September 16. The interest in our Founding Father and the first Secretary of the Treasury has inspired games, sketch books, coloring books, and calendars. Food writer and cooking coach Laura Kumin explored another angle in The Hamilton Cookbook: Cooking, Eating & Entertaining in Hamilton’s World. What was it like to dine with this Revolutionary War hero who helped interpret the Constitution and founded our nation’s financial system? Laura is the perfect person to find out. At her blog, Mother Would Know, Laura encourages readers to become confident and creative home cooks. Laura has done Hamilton-related podcasts and programs for a variety of audiences and groups, including the National Press Club and Tudor Place, a National Historic Landmark. Laura talks with Woman Around Town’s Editor Charlene Giannetti about how she researched the book. Click to listen.
