Get Your Child or Grandchild Ready for School with the Perfect Water Bottle

Hard to believe the summer is almost over and soon students will be heading back to school. (In some parts of the country, they already have!) We checked in with a teacher in upstate New York to find out what supplies her students need. At the top of the list: a water bottle. No matter if the child is in elementary, middle, or high school, having access to water is essential.

Staying hydrated is not only important for a young person’s health, but important for focus in the classroom and performance on sports fields. The heat wave now encompassing the country is expected to last into the fall, so making sure children have a supply of water is a safety issue. In some schools, water fountains, which used to be a source of water, were put out of action during covid and many have not come back into use. An added benefit of a water bottle: a young person can add lemon, lime, or other fruit flavors to the water to make drinking even more appealing.

Last year, the Stanley water bottle was the one most students – as well as many adults – coveted. But other companies have come on board producing similar containers that may overtake the Stanley. And don’t let the kids have all the fun! Buy a new water bottle for yourself!

Here are the choices:

The Stanley

The best selling Stanley comes in a variety of colors. It’s equipped with a built in straw that is leakproof when closed. The rotating handle makes it easy to carry. It’s easy to clean and dishwasher safe.

The Owlala

This newbie could be the number one choice for young people this season. It is more colorful than the Stanley, coming in a trio of colors that come in many combinations. It also has a straw, is dishwasher safe and cleans easily. This version doesn’t come with a handle, but it can easily slip into a backpack and won’t leak.

Brita

If you use Brita water filters at home to keep what you drink free from that chlorine taste, then the Brita water bottle accomplishes the same function. The carbon filter should be replaced every 40 gallons of water. This choice also has a retractable straw, a carry loop, and is leakproof.

Hydro Flash

This Hydro Flash will not only work for water, but for hot beverages like coffee and tea. It also has a wide mouth, is leakproof, and dishwasher safe. It’s available in a wide range of colors.
