Poet’s Corner – The Heron

Along the edge of shore
On tall paper-thin legs
The Heron sits watching.
Majestic, alone and unmoved by wind and sweeping waves,
Blending itself into the expanse of early morning.
Its long curved body becomes one shape connected to the rocks beneath it.
An elegant form in soft gray feathers
One line of being silently still.
It remains a sentry for the coast
A lookout presence and statuesque beauty
A visitor to behold.
