Not only are the projects fun, but they will also save you a lot of money, and you will get to flaunt your talent to friends and family.

Halloween Hankies

One of the cheapest and the easiest giveaways for Halloween are the Halloween hankies. You can write custom messages on them dedicated to kids, spouse, partner, siblings, friends, or any person you want to dedicate them to. All you need is a computer printout of your Halloween design or a quote that you want to put on the towels and a stash of tea towels. Try to get tea towels that have neat seams and soft material for a better presentation. If you are already into crafts and have access to die cutting equipment such as a Sizzix Bigshot, your job will be much easier and quicker. Things you will need include:

  • Tea towels
  • Fabric paints (optional)
  • Halloween dies and dies cutting machine (if using die method)
  • Computer printout of your design (if not using dies)
  • Felt
  • Halloween embellishments such as wobbly eyes
  • Mod Podge Photo transfer
  • Glue Gun

You can choose to go black and white, but if you want to add more spunk, you can paint your tea towels using fabric paints. If you are using a die cutter, the job is straightforward. Merely place the felt in between the cutting plates and set your Halloween die on top of the dishes. Then pass it through your die cutting machine, and you will have your required design in your hand. Now paste it on your tea towels using a hot glue gun or any fabric glue. You can further add embellishments to add more spook-factor.

If you do not have access to dies, you can take a print out of your required Halloween art or quote in a reasonable size. Now place your design over your tea towel and transfer the image on the towel using Mod Podge and let it dry. You can add memorable quotes such as “The Mummy Loves You” for kids or “I am under your Spell” for a loved one. Roll the hankies and tie them using twigs to add it to a goodie bag or as a stand-alone giveaway.

Halloween Mason Jar

Mason jars are yet another economical gift item. The jars are readily available at any dollar store. You can get a stash, embellish them, and add goodies inside such as chocolates or cookies. Take a surgical bandage and wrap it around the jars. Then paste a pair of Googly eyes on the jar using a strong adhesive such as white glue or hot glue. You have your own Mummy Jars ready to be given away. Fill them up with any treats according to your budget. You can use them as goodie jars or merely leave some spooky notes inside for your loved ones.

DIY Lanterns

Lanterns and Halloween go hand in hand. You can create some super fun DIY candles and lamps to be used as both for your home décor and as gifts. You can make spirit jug lanterns using the white milk bottles. Cut out spirit and ghost face expressions using black felt and paste the eyes and face on the milk bottles. Insert glow sticks or Christmas lights inside the bottles and turn them all. You will have a fantastic bunch of spooky lanterns.

You can create also make similar candles using tin cans and mason jars and place tea light candles inside the containers to create an eerie ambiance. You can also make Halloween luminaries out of a framed canvas board. Paint it with Halloween images and top it with glow-in-the-dark paint. Alternatively, you can make small holes in it and put battery operated fairy lights at the back of the frame to create a luminous effect.

Fridge Magnets

Fridge magnets are not only amazingly great giveaways, but they are also super easy to make, they are dirt cheap and take almost no time to prepare. You can use anything lying around the house as a base such as old CDs, chip can lids, small jar lids, clay tiles or glass or acrylic tiles. Merely get a photo print of your Halloween image. Use any dimensional sealer such as Mod Podge Dimensional magic and apply a coat on the base. Now paste a cut out of your photo print on the tile and top it up with another coat of a dimensional sealer and let it dry. Once it dries, paste a magnet bar or a magnetic tape at the back using white glue or hot glue and sport your creation on your fridge or a magnetic board. You can also create these magnets and add them to your Halloween goodie bags. If you don’t want to use tiles, you can cut out thin discs or tiles out of chipboard.
