Pizza Festival 2018: From Naples to New York

What better way to celebrate Columbus Day Weekend than by focusing on pizza. The first annual New York Pizza Festival hosted by the Belmont Business Improvement District showcases the talents of more than 20 pizza makers from establishments in the U.S. and, of course, Naples, Italy. The two-day event, Saturday, October 6 and Sunday October 7, is expected to draw more than 20,000 people strolling along Crescent Avenue in The Bronx, sampling pizzas of all shapes, thickness, and with a variety of toppings. Pizzarias from major U.S. cities will occupy stands, including those from Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Dallas, and many more. There’s also the opportunity to watch chefs mix the flour, roll out the dough, and bake them in wood-fired or brick ovens. (The ovens themselves are a sight to behold, colorful large behemoths spitting flames.) The event is sure to grow in size an popularity, based on the enthusiasm exhibited on dozens of smiling, tomato-stained faces. If you are used to dining on fast food or quick bake pizzas, fuhgeddaboudit! Come and enjoy the real thing.
