Camelback Resort – Fun and Fabulous in the Pennsylvania Poconos

There’s so much to enjoy at Camelback Resort in Tannersville, now celebrating 60 years in the beautiful Pennsylvania Poconos. It’s easy to reach by car, only 90 minutes from New York City and less than two hours from Philly. Camelback is well known for top-notch winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Season’s passes are now available and the resort is getting ready for the exciting winter ahead as they offer lessons, equipment rentals, and finely groomed trails for all levels.

Camelback Resort’s lodge has a vast variety of amenities year round and restaurant options for people of all ages to enjoy. We recently had a wonderful overnight stay. A weekday visit is perfect for those of us who have flexible schedules. From check in to departure, the staff makes sure you feel like a very special guest.  The accommodations couldn’t be better with expansive rooms and multi-bedroom suites with the largest one to accommodate up to 14 people. Many of the suites have fireplaces, balconies, mountain views, and kitchen areas. Camelback’s new app allows visitors to pre-book rooms, explore opportunities, make dining reservations, and more. Currently, the lodge is all decked out for the holidays and guests are enjoying photo opportunities by the huge beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

Camelback’s Aquatopia has been voted the #1 Indoor Waterpark in North America by USA Today. We spent an afternoon having a splashing good time. It features 14 exhilarating water slides including tube slides and body slides, a huge wave pool, kiddie areas, the Lost River, and so much more. Rent a luxurious cabana to relax and refresh between your adventures. Adults can swim up to Flyboys bar for a selection craft cocktails, wine or beer. The waterpark’s food concession, Burgers & More will satisfy everyone’s cravings for tasty bites so you can stay powered up. Aquatopia offers a summery ambiance all year round.

The fun continues with the lodge’s Rock Climbing Wall, Ropes Course, Lasar Tag, and VR Experience. The Arcadia Mega Arcade has over 100 sensational state of the art games that will challenge kids and adults alike.

Dining options abound at Camelback.  We had a delectable dinner at Trails End, the American brew pub located within the lodge that also has a ski-in-ski out feature during the winter with fire pits on the patio.  It’s ideal for lodge guests but all are welcome with convenient parking available. Savor selections made with with locally sourced ingredients such as their Sullivan’s Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Classic Caesar Salad, Jack Daniels Barbecue Burger, or The Planker rack of ribs served with onion rings. Don’t miss out on one of Trails End’s craft cocktails and a luscious dessert. Just a few steps away from the lodge is Berellis Italian Chophouse that serves prime dry-aged steaks, pasta dishes, seafood and salads. Guests can get ready for an active day with the sumptuous breakfast buffet at Hemispheres that has all your favorites. There are also plenty of yummy grab and go options at spots like Graffiti Pizza; Café & Bar, Coffee by La Colombe; Sugar Shack; and the Mountain Market. We suggest our readers learn about all of the upcoming holiday meal offerings too.

There’s really no end to the adventures available at Camelback. One of the unique attractions is their thrilling Mountain Coaster. Hold on as you take this one of a kind ride down the ever-scenic mountainside. Control your speed as you pass through turns, twists and drops.

We are planning to return to Camelback with the family to have some winter fun on Camelback’s snow tubing course and visit their newest attraction, Winter Village through the holiday season. The snow-covered Village that has been created at the resort’s summer wave pool, will feature a variety of festive vendor shops adorned with red garlands and lights along with entertainment.

Camelback is the place to host special events like weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries for all size parties. It is a very welcoming venue for overnights and day trips. Gather your group, make it a couple’s weekend or go solo and keep the destination in mind year-round. There are new, enticing activities every season of the year.
