With the Rains Come Waterfalls – Visit Some in Pennsylvania

All the rain we’ve had lately has produced dramatic waterfalls. Enjoy their natural beauty in the Pennsylvania Poconos. Get some comfy shoes ready for some short hikes and stunning views when you visit eastern Pennsylvania. The attractions are free of charge with good parking available for guests. Make plans for a day trip or a quick getaway.

Dingmans Falls

Dingmans Creek Trail, located off Route 209 in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, has generous parking and a visitor’s center that exhibits the nature of the area. There’s a boardwalk with no elevation that leads to two falls.

Silver Thread Falls

The first one is Silver Thread Falls, a slim waterfall that cascades from high above. To see the impressive Dingmans Falls, take a lovely walk through groves of rhododendrons. There are stairs to climb if you wish to see an elevated view of Dingmans Falls.

Also located in the Delaware National Recreation Area just off Route 209 is Raymondskill Falls. These falls teem with life as the pristine water flows downstream to the Delaware River. It is Pennsylvania’s highest waterfall with a three-tiered cascade.

The George W. Childs Recreation Area, located in Dingmans Ferry off Route 739 on Silver Lake Road has recently reopened and is thrilling guests with its three waterfalls. They include Fulmer Falls, Factory Falls, and Dear Leap Falls. The park has easy walkways and overlooks that allow visitors to enjoy every step of the Park’s beauty.

Resica Falls

Resica Falls, a lovely waterfall, is located along Bushkill Creek in East Stroudsburg and is accessed from Route 402.  It is on the property of Resica Falls Scout Reservation. As a project of the Pa. Department of Natural Resources and Monroe County, visitors can enjoy seeing the falls. It is just steps from the parking area.

Shohola Falls is a gem located on Route 6 and Brooks Camp Road near Shohola, Pennsylvania. This impressive waterfall is just steps from the parking area and offers a close up of the waterfall. It has numerous cascades that rush over the declining rocks and the sound of the water is beautiful and relaxing.
