The New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake has an anticipated new release. Her romance novel, Built to Last is a story with plenty of heart, passion, big personalities, and intriguing circumstances. Blake lives in North Texas with her husband and three children. She began writing at a young age concentrating on plays and journalism but found great success crafting romance novels. She has a talent for finding humor in strange places and believes in happy endings. Built to Last is part of the Park Avenue Promise Series.

Harper Ross is the bright, hard-working head of her family’s Manhattan construction company. She has had to make some tough financial decisions to keep the business afloat after her father’s death. The company had been mismanaged to benefit family members and the tax burden was enormous when she took over.

But now, thanks to a dear friend from high school, Harper has the opportunity to fulfill a dream to work on a Gilded Age brownstone that will be showcased on a new reality television show. Difficulties on the brownstone arise when Reid Dorsey, a charming and well-respected designer, has a very different vision for the home and the two of them are constantly at odds. While Harper wants to maintain the building’s history and architectural integrity, Reid insists on infusing it with a modern aesthetic. There’s a romantic attraction and a sexual tension between Harper and Reid that cannot be denied causing additional complications in the workplace.

As the story unfolds, Harper’s struggles with her family’s business, an overbearing mother, problems with the brownstone’s wiring, issues with filming of the reality television show, and romantic ups and downs. The book also details some of the challenges that women can face in the workplace and how important it is to have a friends’ group that will be supportive. Readers will come to care about the story’s characters and be invested in their personal and professional successes.

Built to Last should be on your summer reading list.
