Poet’s Corner: Lunar Eclipse

Holding the carefully prepared paper in my lap
And in joyful anticipation and attention
I follow the yellow markings that point to the lunar eclipse
Reclining on the window seat
I gaze carefully at the full orange disk
disappearing gradually in bits and pieces
behind the shadow of the earth
As the moon is consumed
I am also
With awe and surprise
