Poet’s Corner: Reading Alice Hoffman

Magic lifts off the pages
Like many sparrows
As words become alive
Dreams in surreal imagery
Are written in languages
Created for flight
Rains renamed, gardens replanted
Characters reveal other worlds
Unexpected and troubled
Yet sublimely beautiful.
