Poet’s Corner: Shift
If you hold a sparrow
in the cup of your hand,
a found one, stunned
by the smash of glass
that was window not sky,
forever after,
when you see a sparrow,
you’ll remember
the feel of the feathersoft body,
the tiny heart beating against
your fingers.
