Poet’s Corner: Slow Turning of Time

Slow turning of time
Summer days drape the spirit
In a long, lingering tranquil state.
Blessed with breezes encircling arms and body
In slow covering.
Coffee in small cups
Greet the evening before sunset.
Hours upon hours away.
All the colors of the garden
In the imagination of the afternoon
As clear tones spread on unprimed canvas
Recalling ladies’ veils
Thin and transparent
Revealing a smile
As if the day never ends.

The poem, “Slow Turning of Time,” and artwork, “Balance,” by Marsha Solomon
