How to Build a Solid Wardrobe
If you are just starting your wardrobe, or you want to start fresh with a new one, well, that can be one heck of an ordeal. However, while it may be pricey and time-consuming, it is nevertheless doable if you have the patience to go through with it. Building a good wardrobe requires a mixture of a variety of colors, a variety of styles, and a variety of purposes. To help you pick out the best wardrobe for you, we will look at some of the best clothes and outfits to include in it.
Have a variety of colors
There is nothing wrong with having a selection of only a few favorite colors, even if that means that you need at least one of those colors incorporated into your outfits. Experiment with colors that go outside of your comfort zone, especially if those colors complement your favorite colors. For example, if you love pink, including black in your outfit does a world of good to help your outfit pop better. Another great color combination is green and purple, both of which are enhanced by each other to a value greater than their own.
If you want to go with an outfit that focuses primarily on a different color than your favorite color, you can still incorporate your favorites into your outfit, even in a small way. For example, if you love blue, you can add a blue accessory to your outfit to let people know your love for the color.
Not all color combos are a solid mix together, however. While it is not a “rule” that a person cannot, or should not, wear certain colors together, it should be noted that some colors just work worse together than others do. For example, the incorporation of two neon colors together tends to cause the two colors to fight with each other for other people’s attention, meaning that it can come off as garish and distracting. However, there is something to be said about an outfit that is intentionally meant to be distracting.
Have a variety of styles
Look, we all have our favorite types of outfits, but sometimes, it’s important to go outside of your comfort zone. A common type of style is to simply wear monochromatic clothes. This is a safe style, but it’s not exactly exciting, is it? Especially if that is all you have been wearing for years. In this case, you should try wearing something more bold, with lots of colors, shapes, and designs incorporated into them. A more artsy style of clothing can do a world of good to make you feel excited about what you are wearing.
Another thing that people don’t realize is just how good asymmetry is. A lot of people get stuck in this idea that you have to make their outfits symmetrical, and while symmetricality is not a bad style by any means, it is not the only way to wear clothes. Look at an asymmetrical tunic, or a dress that shows more skin on one end than the other. Asymmetry is very atypical, but that’s exactly what helps it stand out. In a sea of people who wear symmetrical outfits, someone whose outfit is asymmetrical is bound to stand out more as a result.
Have a variety of purposes
Finally, it’s important that you consider exactly what you will be using these clothes for. There is no one type of outfit for every situation, and inevitably, most people will have to have different clothes to wear in different situations. So, if you are a fan of graphic tees, you should still have something a little more professional if you are planning to go to a business meeting or an interview. A lack of variety of purpose can be detrimental to demonstrating your professionality to your employer or would-be employer, and walking in wearing a tank top and sweat pants can be taken as an insult by many.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with an outfit that consists of a tank top and sweat pants. After all, there are plenty of times where you need to be able to relax on your days off or after work, and inevitably, you want to make sure that you are at your most comfortable. There are few things that will be more comfortable than dressing down in these kinds of clothes and bumming it on your couch to watch the latest season of Stranger Things.
Of course, even in the privacy of your own home, there are situations where you may want to look your best, and that’s when you want to look pretty for your partner. A nice set of lingerie can send your boyfriend or girlfriend into a tizzy, and it may even help you spice up the bedroom if things have been a little stale.
