Poet’s Corner: On Wings of Faith

(Paris burning; passions light;
Echoes Phoenix queue to rise,
Top wings upon a rebirth’s flight.
It’s there, we understand and know
In God’s hands
From which we grow.)

Resurrection soothes the souls
Who thank the Lord for new.
A rebirth in the hymnals;
Sung from humble pews.
Songs of faith as we traverse
Cross lands to Galilee;
And with each step, we’re given worth,
As we begin to see.

Many look to Passover;
A time to liberate:
Cutting ‘way the tethers
In what others might mandate.
Praying to dear God above,
We find peace across the lands;
And in our wake of footprints,
We leave prayers in grains of sand.

And then some watch and celebrate
The nymph which brings us spring;
With fragrant crowns of daffodils,
And all that rebirth brings.
Ham is on the table.
Traditions become lore.
And when we see we’re able
Our worries wash ashore.

It’s not the house we pray from:
It’s from our hearts of true.
Seeking out the higher road
Where love’s the only view.
And if you feel lost in the dark,
Don’t even give a thought
To ask why do we bother?
When hope’s question is why not?
